Letter from the President

Hello everyone and welcome to the Phi Eta chapter of Tri Delta at Texas Tech University! Thank you for taking the time to explore our website and get a glimpse into life as a Tri Delta at TTU! Tri Delta was established at Texas Tech University in 1953, making our chapter over 70 years old. Over the span of these years, Phi Eta has been recognized as a top fundraiser within Texas Tech Greek Life as well as an organization that focuses on academic success for our members. As Tri Deltas, we come together in sisterhood to form a perpetual bond of friendship through a shared love for philanthropy and service. We are looking forward to another successful year raising money through service, strengthening relationships, and cherishing what it means to be a Tri Delta.

Phi Eta hosts events throughout the year to raise money for our philanthropy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. One of our largest events takes place in the Fall and is called Delta After Dark. At Delta After Dark, the Lubbock community, other Greek Life Members, family, Texas Tech students, and more, all come together to enjoy a country concert with some Texas BBQ! We have so much fun playing games and celebrating our inner Texan while raising money for St. Jude. Another event that is always a fun time is dHop- Delta House of Pancakes, where our members cook pancakes and sell them to the public! In the Spring, we have the privilege of participating in Sincerely Yours, which is a philanthropy event that all Tri Deltas across the country have access to. Our members come to the lodge and write letters to friends and family about St. Jude and the impact a donation has. We are also known in the Greek Life Community for our annual Tri Delta Invitational golf tournament, which is always an amazing time! The events we host for our beloved philanthropy have helped us become a top fundraiser amongst all Tri Delta chapters. As a chapter, we are proud to have raised over 1 million dollars for St. Jude since partnering with them in 2001. We are looking forward to our continued support over the years to come!

Academic excellence is a cornerstone of our chapter. We offer a plethora of resources and support systems to assist our members in their academic pursuits. Major-specific study groups provide invaluable peer-to-peer assistance, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Personally, these groups have been instrumental for me, offering guidance and camaraderie during challenging courses. For me, this has been an incredibly beneficial source to go to when I need help in a class or even just someone to relate to. Additionally, our new member program incorporates a structured study regimen, ensuring members stay on track with their academic goals. Members can go to specific locations including our school library, coffee shops, our beautiful lodge, and more to log study hours. During my first semester, study hours helped me tremendously because it allowed me to take time to focus on my studies. Study hours not only aided in my academic success but also gave me the chance to foster enduring friendships within the chapter.

In August of 2021, I made the decision to join Tri Delta. At the time of my bid acceptance, I had not realized that I wasn’t just joining a sorority, I was joining a family. The women of Tri Delta have bestowed upon me a newfound confidence and unwavering support. Through life's highs and lows, they stand by me, embodying the true essence of sisterhood. Leading such an exceptional group of collegiate women is a privilege I cherish, and I'm eager to make a meaningful impact within this esteemed organization. Though each member of our chapter is unique, we are bound by an unbreakable bond of sisterhood. We could not be more excited to welcome our 2024 New Member Class with open arms. Thank you for taking the time to learn about our chapter. I hope to see you soon!

Delta Love,

Emily Cook (PC'21)
